The first picture you see is "Starry Night" by Van Gogh. The second is of a city skyline. What is interesting about these two pictures is that the photograph is like a modern day "Starry Night" because in many places now you can not see the stars in the sky and the city lights take the place of them. The time period of each image is also important because they both reflect the time period of when they were created.
narrative explaining this needs to be developed in more depth, I think that there is a lot here to admire and think about; for example, the organic swirls of light vs. the modern, neon-like streaks of car's head and taillights.
ReplyDeleteI also like that you saw in the image a commentary on the loss of the pastoral--you can't see the stars anymore in the city due to light pollution. Next time just put more thought into the narrative.
